My name is Mrs. Kathleen Flaherty. I am blessed and proud to be the Second Grade Teacher at St. Cyprian Parish School! I have been teaching for over 30 years! (Officially and Un-officially) My husband and I met here at St. Cyprian School back in the late 80’s. We are happily married and have five wonderful children. Our oldest, and only girl, is a graduate of Loyola Marymount University and is presently an R.N. Our oldest son is also a graduate of LMU and is teaching Fifth Grade. The next two boys are attending LMU, and our youngest attends St. John Bosco High School. All FIVE are graduates of Catholic High Schools and of St. Cyprian Parish School!
I taught 2nd Grade from 1985- 1990 and presently from 2010 – 2017. From 1990-2010 I was a stay at home mom, private tutor, and substitute teacher.
My teaching background began in High School when I coached volley-ball, taught swim lessons and taught C.C.D. at my Parish Church. I attended Catholic Elementary and High Schools. I received my degree in Social Ecology, with an emphasis on Human Behavior, from the University of California, Irvine. I have ongoing credential/continuing education credits at Cal. State Long Beach, and I am an Archdiocesan Master Catechist.
Nothing is more worthwhile to me than spending quality time with family and friends… cooking, eating, talking, laughing, singing, playing...sharing in the journey…
