Mary Beth Murchison

7th Grade

Hello! My name is Mary Beth Murchison. I am so very excited and blessed to join the St. Cyprian School community as a full-time teacher.  I have held my multi-clad clear credential from California State University Dominguez Hills since 1999. My teaching experience includes all grade levels from K- 8, and I have even volunteered to substitute for a private high school. Being a full-time teacher has been a dream of mine for quite some time, and now a joyful reality. In fact, some parents and students may remember me from when I stepped in as the long-term substitute teacher for 7th grade in Spring 2016.

Born and raised in Long Beach, St. Cornelius School formulated my elementary years. As a St. Joseph High School graduate, I actually made history at Long Beach City College.  (Ask me how sometime when you see me!) I am a military veteran, having proudly served our country for 18.5 years in both the U.S. Navy and Air Force Reserves.  Was privileged to live and work in Napa, CA for seven years, where as the Director of Operations, I assisted in opening a program for our returning veterans with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder.  Since I owned the home next door to where I grew up, returning home to Long Beach in 2014 seemed only natural when it was time to settle down. I’m in my old neighborhood surrounded by family and friends. My husband and I share a love of travelling, gardening and home improvement projects.

I am living my dream and looking forward to bringing my passion for social studies, science and love of learning to our middle school students. We are going to have a fantastic year!
